Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Barbican

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man with Van Barbican takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are a professional removals and transport services provider operating in Barbican and surrounding areas, and we recognise our responsibility to uphold and promote human rights in every aspect of our business.

Modern slavery is a crime and a serious violation of fundamental human rights. It can take many forms, including forced labour, debt bondage, human trafficking, child labour, and exploitation through coercion or deception. Man with Van Barbican is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place.

Our Zero-Tolerance Policy

Man with Van Barbican operates a clear and strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with or support any business or individual involved in such practices. This applies to all aspects of our operations, from our direct employees and agency workers to contractors and suppliers who provide vehicles, equipment, storage, and associated services.

All staff, regardless of their role or level, are expected to uphold this policy and act in a manner consistent with our values. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any breach by a supplier or contractor may result in immediate termination of our relationship.

Our Supply Chain and Supplier Audits

Our supply chain mainly consists of vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and occasional subcontracted transport and labour services. While we operate primarily at a local and regional level, we recognise that risks may exist at every tier of the supply chain.

We aim to work only with suppliers and subcontractors who share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. To support this, we are progressively introducing the following measures:

Firstly, due diligence checks on new suppliers, including asking for information on their own policies and practices relating to modern slavery and worker welfare. Secondly, contractual expectations that require compliance with relevant legislation and with our zero-tolerance stance. Thirdly, risk-based audits and reviews of selected suppliers, focusing on those operating in higher risk sectors or using temporary, agency, or migrant labour.

Where concerns or non-compliance are identified, we will seek corrective action within a clear timeframe. If issues are not resolved to our satisfaction, we will reconsider or terminate the relationship.

Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels

Man with Van Barbican encourages a culture of openness and accountability. Employees, contractors, and any individual who comes into contact with our business are encouraged to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking.

Reports can be made directly to management or through established internal reporting routes. Concerns will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against a person who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not ultimately substantiated.

Where appropriate, we will work with relevant authorities and organisations to address and resolve any issues identified.

Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement

We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our staff. Training and guidance are provided to key employees involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management so that they can recognise signs of exploitation and know how to respond.

We also communicate our expectations to suppliers and subcontractors so they understand our standards and the importance of ethical working practices. We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring vigilance, review, and improvement over time.

Annual Review and Approval

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every twelve months to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with current legislation and best practice. As part of the annual review, we consider feedback from staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders, and we assess the effectiveness of our controls, audits, and training.

Where necessary, we update our policies, procedures, and contractual terms to strengthen our approach. The revised statement is then approved by the leadership of Man with Van Barbican and published to demonstrate our continued commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chain.

This statement represents our ongoing pledge to conduct business responsibly, respect human dignity, and contribute to the eradication of modern slavery in all its forms.
